Item Ref: 932

A rare Jacobite wine glass , having a round funnel bowl with gilt rim decorated in red and white enamel with what is believed to be a portrait of Cardinal Henry Benedict Stuart with a floral garland, with a facet cut stem and a plain conical foot.

Cardinal Henry Benedict Stuart ( 1725-1807 ) was the younger brother of Bonnie Prince Charlie on whose death in 1788 Henry was proclaimed King Henry the IX of England and King Henry Ist of Scotland,

It is believed that the decorator was probably Anthony Taylor, a Scottish enameller, formerly of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne .
